About your host :
Javier Porras-Gil is a Colombian-Canadian salsa instructor who blends his expertise in physiotherapy to create inclusive, health-focused dance experiences.
Founder and Artistic Director of SalsaRehab, he designs and leads classes for students of all ages–from children to seniors in their seventies–using safe, progressive Latin dance patterns that build confidence, mobility, and cultural connection. Drawing on his Master’s in Physiotherapy and national clinical work, including pediatric and sport rehabilitation as well as care in remote Indigenous communities, Javier integrates functional movement principles and injury-prevention strategies into every lesson. His approach ensures that participants not only learn to dance but also improve strength, balance, and endurance in a supportive, community-driven environment.
